September 15th is International Dot Day! The day celebrates creativity and thinking outside the box, and is inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot. In the book, a little girl named Vashti invents a seemingly endless variety of dots as she overcomes her "artist's block".  After sharing this book with Kindergarteners and 1st Graders in Art class, we set out to create our own dots. Kindergarteners were inspired by the dots Kandinsky painted in "Concentric Circles". 1st Graders have been studying the colorful and organic dots and shapes painted by Mr. Hundertwasser. Here are a few pictures of our young artists are work. Stay tuned to more pictures and finished artwork.
