Draw what you see, not what you know....
K1 began talking to day about how to break down the objects in a still life into recognizable shapes to help us draw what we see. We read Mouse Shapes by Ellen Stoll Walsh, and talked about the shapes we saw in 3 still life paintings by Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. Students then drew the still life that was set up in the middle of the room, looking for shapes they knew. They then traced their pencil lines with black Sharpie markers. Next week- COLOR!
