In our final project in our Exploration of Color Unit, Kindergarteners got the opportunity to experiment mixing colors and creating new ones, painting anything they desired. We watched 3 short videos about things that are Red, Yellow and Blue, and each child completed 3 paintings. For each painting students were given a limited color palette so that they could have the experience of mixing colors without having them all turn to brown (which is what happens when you mix every color together.) We began with a palette of red and yellows, then moved on to yellows and blues, and ended with reds and blues. With each palette they were also given white. Some students thought a lot about what they could paint with each set of colors, while others enjoyed the experience of mixing the colors and discovering the results.
To see all of the paintings please visit the Student Galleries link on my classroom website.
Please keep in mind that classes work on projects at different paces. Artwork is uploaded to the website as they finish. If your child's work is not up, please check back later.
