Now that our drawings are finished we can begin creating the pieces needed to assemble our quilt. We began by collaging a boarder of patterned papers around the edges of a piece of construction paper. Each class was assigned a color of paper to help create unity in the finished quilt. As students collaged their boarders I meet with them individually to discuss their drawings and they completed 2 sentences about what they chose to draw themselves flying over and why they want to own this.
Their pictures and writing samples were then glued in the center of the collaged boarders. I punched holes along the edges of the construction paper and the students then sewed their finished pieces together.
