We began by reading Lines That Wiggle by Candace Whitman, and drawing many types of lines across our papers, dividing it up into new and interesting shapes.
Next students were introduced to the PRIMARY COLORS. The Primary colors are the most essential colors because they are the foundations for all other colors. They are Red, Yellow and Blue, and without them the world would be a bleak, blank place. We read Press Here by Herni Tullet, which features the primary colors getting up to all sorts of antics. We then painted the shapes we had made from our lines using the primary colors, and even mixing them to create the SECONDARY colors, Green, Orange, and Purple. We revisited lines at the end of this project, as we painted as many lines as we could think of over our colors using black.
